A cold front and upper disturbance has moved into our area from Texas, increasing rain chances this morning and well into the afternoon hours.
"We're predicting about a 60 percent chance for showers and storms and the Storm Prediction Center has only recently placed us under a Slight risk (2 of 5) for strong to severe storms," says local weather expert, WWL-TV meteorologist Chris Franklin.
"The main threat to us would be from some isolated strong, gusty winds. Tornadoes are not out of the question."
A stalled front may keep a few showers in the area Sunday morning, but most of the day will remain dry and warm.
"Don't expect much from the front, though, as it isn't associated with any cooler air," Franklin says.
We'll stay mostly dry on Monday with another upper disturbance bringing a 60 percent chance for storms on Tuesday.
Highs the rest of the week will likely climb into the mid and upper 80s.
