New Orleans Police are currently investigating a Sunday morning homicide.
According to the NOPD, a man living in a homeless encampment was fatally shot near the intersection of Canal St. and N. Claiborne.
It happened about 7:30 a.m.
The unidentified victim died just feet from the tent where he lived under an Interstate 10 overpass.
Police say the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He died at the scene.
Officers were working to identify a suspect and motive.
