The Sunshine Bridge in Donaldsonville has reopened after a ship crashed into the structure, according to the St. James Sheriff's Office.
Crews are looking into the extent of damage to the bridge.
The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. and U.S. Coast Guard officials said the vessel slammed into a large beam, damaging fencing at the bottom of the bridge.
The bridge reopened in both directions around 3:45 today.
