A man wanted for a homicide in St. Tammany Parish last month is in custody in Georgia, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office officials said today.

U.S. Marshals officials located 30-year-old Jules Johnson in Marietta, Georgia Tuesday. The sheriff's office said after a brief foot pursuit, agents were able to take Johnson into custody.

Once he's transferred to St. Tammany's custody, officials say Johnson will be booked with second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

"Shortly before 1:30 a.m. Sunday (May 19), STPSO deputies were dispatched to a business located off of Salmen Street near Slidell in reference to a shooting," said the sheriff's office. "Upon arriving at the scene, deputies located one victim with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead."

That same day, detectives identified Johnson as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

"This was a collaborative effort among multiple agencies to track and capture a violent offender," Sheriff Randy Smith said. "I am proud of the hard work and dedication of our investigators who worked this case. We appreciate all of our law enforcement partners, including Crimestoppers and the U.S. Marshals Service, who are committed to helping us keep St. Tammany safe."
