A store clerk in LaPlace fought back against an armed robber and the suspect ended up shot in the neck, the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office says.
"The man, whose identity has not been released yet, went into the convenience store about 8:50 a.m. and robbed the store at gunpoint," the sheriff's office posted on social media. "One of the store employees, who also was armed, shot the suspect, based on a preliminary investigation."
It happened at a convenience store in the 400 block of Belle Terre Boulevard this morning.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital, but the sheriff's office did not have information on his condition.
No other injuries were reported. The investigation continues.
