TD13 forecast to get in Gulf as Tropical Storm Laura

Tropics

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on newly developed Tropical Depression Thirteen.

Forecasters expect it to become Tropical Storm Laura today.  Some computer models show it falling apart in the Caribbean, while other say it could be a hurricane in the Gulf.

WWL TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum says it is just to early to know if it will be a threat to Louisiana or not.

"There is a lot of uncertainty to go with this," he stresses.  "I can't rule us out."

"This system is gradually becoming better organized," the Hurricane Center advises. "A tropical depression is likely to form in a couple of days."

Nussbaum says that appears to be a threat to Mexico and Texas, but could send rain our way.

A tropical wave over western Africa is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms.

"This wave is expected to move over the far eastern tropical Atlantic on Friday, and some slow development is possible."
