LSU now favored by 5 1/2 points over Clemson for the college championship

With less than a week to go, they're betting heavy on LSU in the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Oddsmakers say the point spread is rising in the Bayou Bengals favor.

"We're now at minus 5 1/2 for LSU, so if you take the initial in-game line, they were offering 3 1/2, it's already moved up 2 points so that is a sizeable movement in this situation," said Scott Cooley, odds consultant with Cool Media PR, but he doesn't think it will stay at the 5 1/2 points it is right now.

"My guess tells me it's going to come down a little bit towards the opening line, just given the fact that Clemson is the defending National champion," Cooley said.  He's thinking somewhere between 4 and 5 points at kickoff.

The over and under now stands at 69 1/2 points.  That's pretty high according to Cooley.

"The betters are taking the over," Cooley noted.  "It's about 67 percent of the bets right now are on the over."

Cooley thinks most are betting that LSU gets up and down the field.
