
The Thibodaux Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened shortly before 4:00 a.m. this morning.
Early Monday just before 4 a.m. police received a phone call of a shooting that took place in the 1300 block of St. Charles Street. When police arrived, they discovered a victim 27-year-old Jason Steib of Thibodaux had been shot multiple times. He was rushed to a local hospital and pronounced dead at the hospital.
“We do not believe that this is a random shooting,” said Chief Bryan Zeringue. “Our thoughts and our prayers are with the loved ones of the victim.”
This investigation is ongoing and the Thibodaux Police Department Criminal Investigations Division has been working diligently, following every lead necessary to apprehend any and all responsible parties involved.
“We will utilize every resource available to apprehend the at large suspect and any other suspects that may become relevant to the investigation,” said Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue.
