With businesses being allowed to let more customers in, and more attractions able to open, when Phase 2 of easing coronavirus restrictions begins Friday, Louisiana Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser says he is ready to start promoting drive-market tourism again.
Nungesser says the ramp up from a quarter capacity to half is sorely needed for a lot of businesses, whether they depend on tourists or not
"They can only lose money for so long before they have to close doors," he said, and Nungesser says he doesn't want any of Louisiana's iconic businesses to go under.
"These places that people come to New Orleans and Louisiana to eat and visit and it takes decades to get that reputation," Nungesser explained. "It's not just a business here or there, it's our ability to promote what Louisiana's all about."
