The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Cristobal will pull away from Southeast Louisiana Monday.

The storm made landfall Sunday night around 5:10pm between Grand Isle and St. Bernard Parish.

"Cristobal is moving toward the north-northwest near 10 mph, and this motion with an increase in forward speed is expected through Monday."

The advisory says that gradual weakening will continue overnight, and Cristobal is forecast to weaken to a tropical depression Monday morning.

Some rain will continue to stream up out of the Gulf of Mexico, but with less intensity and coverage than we saw Sunday over the Mississippi Gulf Coast and parts of the Northshore.

The system will then pick up the pace and dump moisture over more than 1,000 miles in just a couple of days.

"On the forecast track, the center of Cristobal will move inland across southeastern Louisiana through early Monday morning, and northward across Arkansas and Missouri Monday afternoon into Tuesday, and then move over Wisconsin Tuesday night and into Canada on Wednesday."

Maximum sustained winds decreased Sunday night to near 45 mph with higher gusts.

The bulk of the rain Sunday night into Monday morning is expected in Mississippi and parts of the Northshore... the same areas that got the heaviest rain during the day Sunday.

There is a change of more isolated cells pulled north over other areas too.
