Smollett was arrested and indicted after allegedly faking a hate crime attack against him. Police say he hired two men to rough him up in an effort to gain notoriety and get more money as a star of the TV Show "Empire."
A grand jury indicted the actor.
The prosecutor, however, said because he was not a violent criminal that Smollett could forfeit his $10,000 bond and all charges would be dropped.
A judge sealed the court records.
Media lawyers are fighting to have those records made public.
Now the president wants to know if the deal was on the up and up. He says, "It is an embarrassment to our Nation!"
Prosecutors say they still believe Smollett is guilty. The actor says he is innocent,.
