Five people have been shot to death in two separate Saturday morning shootings, according to authorities.
Two people were shot to death in Gonzales on Churchpoint Road shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
Ascension Parish authorities identified the victims as 50-year-old Elizabeth Theriot and her husband, 50-year-old Keith Theriot.
The victims were identified as a husband and wife. Their 21-year-old son was being sought by authorities and was wanted on first-degree murder charges.
Sheriff Bobby Webre said detectives are searching for 21-year-old Dakota Theriot, wanted for two counts of first-degree-murder, illegal use of weapons, and home invasion.
The shooting is believed to be connected to a homicide investigation in Livingston Parish, where three people were killed in another Saturday morning shooting.
Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard has not disclosed the victims' identities.
Sheriff Ard says, ‘We do not believe the suspect to be in Livingston Parish at this time. We are working in conjunction with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and our investigation is ongoing.’
