The National Hurricane Center is watching two areas in the Atlantic Ocean that could develop in the coming week.
This comes after what was Tropical Storm Josephine dissipated near Puerto Rico.
One wave is heading closer to the Caribbean with increasing shower and thunderstorm activity about 700 miles east of theWindward Islands.
"The system is expected to move more slowly westward across the central and western Caribbean Sea, and upper-level winds could be conducive for development during the middle to latter part of this week," according to the Hurricane Center's outlook.
Formation chance into a depression or tropical storm is medium at 40 percent.
The second wave is closer to Africa.
"This wave is forecast to move westward at 15 to 20 mph during the next few days, and some development will be possible by the middle to latter part of the week as environmental conditions become more conducive while the system is over the central tropical Atlantic."
Formation chance through five days is also 40 percent.
WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone says both systems bear watching.
"They will need to monitored as the Atlantic moves into a more favorable phase for tropical development over the next few weeks."
