
The ULL Ragin Cajun community lost a great man and baseball coach today. Tony Robichaux died at the age of 57 surrounded by family and loved ones. Coach Robe, as he was often referred to, suffered a heart attack on June 23rd and underwent two surgeries following the heart attack.
Robichaux began his coaching career at McNeese State in 1987. In his seven seasons the Ragin Cajuns won 263 games and made two appearances in the NCAA baseball tournament.
Coach Robe left McNeese State in 1994 to take the head coaching position at USL (University of Southern Louisiana), which was later changed to ULL (University of Louisiana Lafayette). The Ragin Cajuns won 910 games and made several appearances in the NCAA Regionals, four Super Regionals and a College World Series berth with Robichaux at the helm.
Coach Tony Robichaux was adored by his players, past and present. Coach Robe’s peers have tremendous respect for his baseball acumen and coaching ability. The college baseball community lost a great man and a spectacular coach.
