The U.S. Department of Treasury expects over 80 million Americans will receive an Economic Impact Payment by Wednesday, April 15.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says over the next two weeks, the payments will automatically be disbursed to people who filed their 2018 or 2019 federal tax return and received a refund through bank direct deposit.
We are pleased that many Americans are receiving their Economic Impact Payments,” said Mnuchin. “This Administration is delivering fast and direct economic assistance to hardworking Americans, and we hope these payments will bring them much-needed relief.”
The U.S. Treasury says sometime this week, it will launch a free “Get My Payment” app which allows tax filers who did file 2018 or 2019 but did not use direct deposit, to now submit their bank information so they can get their economic payment.
People who did not file 2018 or 2019 tax returns can go here to enter their bank account information and receive their payment.
The Treasury says railroad retirement recipients and eligible Social Security beneficiaries and who did not file a tax return will also get the automatic payments.
