Sometime last evening one or more persons broke into the Donaldson High School campus in Ascension Parish.  Whoever it was took joyrides in four of the school's buses, crashing one of them into school building.

Deputies with Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office spent most of this morning assessing the damage to the school and processing the buses for any clues, fingerprints and the like.  According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate, the department was compiling a suspects list.  Surveillance video was also being poured over to obtain any usable pictures of the suspects.

Photos revealed a hole punched through a wall of the school when one of the stolen buses was rammed into it.  The wall is puckered with a sizable hole and collapsed and seriously damaged brick wall sections.  It appears a crack in the wall runs from the damaged area all the way to the top of the building.  Other buildings also sustained damage.

Ascension Public Schools have been the target of costly vandalism in the past across their 27 campuses.  The school district has invested in a sophisticated video survellance network to keep an eye on their school properties.

The attack at Donaldsonville comes a 11 years after the campus was vandalized extensively.  10 teens, including a former football standout, were arrested and charged in that case.

There is no dollar figure as yet on the damages.
