It was bound to happen at some point this week. A depleted Tiger pitching staff just ran out of gas against Vanderbilt, and the Commodores knocked LSU out of the SEC baseball tournament with a 13-4 win.
LSU finished 3-2 in the SEC tournament, and has likely done enough to be a regional host site next week in the NCAA tournament. D1baseball.com has LSU as a No. 14 overall seed in the tournament with Southern, Southeastern Louisiana, and Miami in the Baton Rouge regional with the Tigers. LSU would be the No. 1 seed in the regional.
The Tigers have won their regional 21 out of 25 times when playing in Baton Rouge.
Tomorrow, the NCAA selection committee will officially release the 16 regional host sites. On Monday, the committee will release the remaining 48 teams in the NCAA tournament.
