
Dreamleague Gaming, a Pasadena, California-based video gaming company is setting up shop in New Orleans. The company is establishing a 'Southern hub' regional headquarters as the company looks to expanding into new markets across the country.
The announcement was made Thursday by Governor John Bel Edwards, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell and Nathaniel Tsai, chief executive of Dreamleague Gaming. The operation will produce online video content locally, creating 25 new jobs with annual salary of more than $52-thousand with benefits.
Dreamleague manages live interactive entertainment events as well as ticketing, marketing and promotions for video gaming competitions. The company also provides consulting services to universities looking to host such events.
According to the Advocate, Dreamleague is tapping into the NOLA Angel Network of investors to help get the new regional headquarters up and running. NOLA Angel Network Chairman Mike Eckert told the Advocate: "[W]e were amazed at what we learned about the 'eSports' (electronic sports) market and the growth and trends in esports competition."
Dreamleague will receive a $1.5-million investment for the launch. Dreamleague CEO Nathaniel Tsai, speaking by phone with the Advocate, said. "We're hoping to use our base there as a hub for the South for live events, and a lot of those will take place in New Orleans."
