Detectives in New Orleans are investigating six different shootings within 12 hours on Monday.
First was a drive-by shooting about 2:00 p.m. in the 2800 block of Jackson Avenue in Central City. Two men were shot as they sat inside their vehicle. Police say a black vehicle pulled alongside the men’s vehicle and started shooting from the passenger side. A 44-year-old man was killed and a 43-year-old man was injured. He was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
About 5:00 p.m. that day, a 16-year-old was shot in the Little Woods area as he was riding a 4-wheeler in the 8000 block of Gus Street near Crowder Boulevard. The victim told police a white pick-up truck chased him and the passenger shot him. He was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
Later about 7:30 p.m. a yet to be identified man was shot and wounded in the 1200 block of Andry Street in the 9th Ward. The victim was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.
Then about 20 minutes later, police were called to a fatal shooting in St. Roch area. Police found a 42-year-old male dead and lying face down on the porch of house at the corner of Music and N. Rocheblave Streets. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
Just after midnight on Tuesday, a shooting in the 2300 block of Bienville in Treme left a man injured. His condition is unknown.
Then about 1:30 Tuesday a 32-year-old man was wounded while inside his car at the intersection of Gentilly Boulevard and Franklin Avenue in Gentilly. Police say a dark-colored SUV pulled up to the victims vehicle and began shooting. EMS took the victim to the hospital. His condition is unknown.
The NOPD is investigating all the shootings. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the names of the victims after the families have been notified.
