
Washington Parish, Louisiana and Pearl River County, Mississippi have a lot in common. In the last few days nothing brought these two municipalities together like pounding they took from two significant storm systems.
WWL-TV Meteorologist Chris Franklin described the extent of the flooding: "Northern Washington Parish, eight to ten plus inches of rainfall. In part of Pearl River County yesterday, significant flooding across this region.
Flood waters inundated homes in Varnado and Angie in Washington Parish, washed out bridges and roads in Pearl River County, Closed a stretch of I-59 in Poplarville and derailed a freight train in Lumberton. The storms are to blame for at least two fatalities in crashes.
