A water main break outside of the Sewerage and Water Board plant closed part of east-bound South Claiborne Avenue this morning.

Traffic had to be rerouted as police closed the road in the 8800 block of S. Claiborne to Leonidas Street.

Water could be seen pouring out from the facility.  The road also appeared to be buckled.

East-bound Claiborne Ave. reopened just after 2:00 p.m. to local traffic only.

According to a spokeswoman, a 6-inch pipe has broken.

The New Orleans Advocate reports no boil advisory has been issued related to this incident, and says the Sewerage and Water Board has not reported a loss of water pressure.

#Update: The @SWBNewOrleans is working on repairs and reports no loss in water pressure. Eastbound Claiborne remains closed to traffic. Continue to use alternative routes. #NOLAReady
