Stocks closed out the week on a positive note, with the indexes notching moderate gains in the Friday session.
The Dow Jones Industrials jumped 152 points, the Nasdaq Composite rose 57, and the S&P 500 added 12.
Oil prices posted modest gains again today - a fourth-straight advance. December crude rose 43 cents to settle at $56.66 a barrel.
Despite falling short of estimates on both the top and bottom lines in the third quarter, shares of Goodyear Tire soared 9.4% today. Goodyear reported adjusted per-share earnings of 45 cents on revenue of $3.8 billion.
A $300,000 project will get under way early next month in New Orleans to improve access at six local transit stations for people with disabilities. The city and the Regional Transit Authority say enhancements will include additional concrete around the transit stop, a ramp and turnaround area for wheelchair access.
