The Office of State Parks is clearing guests out of the cabins at Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego.
Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungasser told the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate, "We are committed to assisting with needed services and facilities during this public health crisis."
"While we understand that this will inconvenience visitors with reservations at this park," Nungasser continued. "The greater mission right now is to do everything possible to get this virus under control."
The site could be converted quickly to becoming an overflow area for people needing to be isolated with cases coronavirus.
The park is 30-minutes from New Orleans on the westbank.
There are 16 cabins with full amenities built over the water that can sleep upwards of eight people.
A group area can sleep 80 in a pair of dormitories and feature a dining hall with kitchen.
In addition to the built-in structures, the park has water and electrical hook ups for nearly 100 campsites or recreational vehicles.
