What's the fastest growing job in Louisiana?  Biomedical engineer. 


Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and government-back projections, Yahoo Finance took a look at the fastest-growing jobs in each state.

What Biomedical Engineers DoBiomedical engineers combine engineering principles with medical sciences to design and create equipment, devices, computer systems, and software used in healthcare.

Work EnvironmentMost biomedical engineers work in manufacturing, universities, hospitals, and research facilities of companies and educational and medical institutions. They usually work full time.

How to Become a Biomedical EngineerBiomedical engineers typically need a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering or bioengineering, or in a related engineering field. Some positions may require a graduate degree.

PayThe median annual wage for biomedical engineers was $88,040 in May 2017.

In Mississippi, it’s  tool programmer,  and in Alabama, aircraft assembler. 

Construction and extraction jobs are in high demand in the U.S., along with installation, maintenance, and repair services.   

A solar panel installer is the fastest-growing job in eight different states.
