February 25, 2019 Rumors about Wade's involvement in the FBI investigation into the college basketball corruption and fraud investigation have been swirling for over a year now, when both Wade and Miller were reportedly on federal wiretaps talking to former agent Christian Dawkins, who was found guilty on multiple felony fraud charges in a college basketball corruption trial last October. The following transcript was read aloud during that trial, with Wade and Dawkins discussing a recruit named Balsa Koprivica:
"Would you want Balsa" Dawkins asked.
"Oh, the big kid?" Wade responded
Dawkins confirmed.
"OK, but there is another [expletive> involved in it," Wade said. "Wait, I've got to shut the door . . . I can get you what you need, but it's got to work."
Wade was asked about the subpoena during his press conference on Monday, saying, "I just saw it. I just learned about it before I walked in here."
