Louisiana State Troopers report a 61-year old woman from Barataria died last night on Lafitte Parkway in Jefferson Parish.
The single car crash took place around 9:30 in the evening near the intersection of Lafittle Parkway and Pelican Bay Boulevard.
The car, driven by Vera Mae Adams, traveled off the roadway and crashed into a tree in the median.
Troopers are still investigating why Adams 2006 Avalon left the road.
Adams was unrestrained at the time of the crash.
She was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Troopers are investigating if a medical event may have preceded this crash.
As part of the ongoing investigation, blood samples were collected for scientific analysis.
