The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide in Metairie. The sheriff's office says deputies dispatched to investigate a shooting around 7:30 this morning found a woman dead from an apparent gunshot wound in a car in the 4100 block of Hessmer Ave.
"A suspect is in custody," said sheriff's office spokesman Capt. Jason Rivarde. "Our investigation into the incident continues, and additional information will be released when the investigation allows."

Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
