The New Orleans Saints left Seattle with what "The Cajun Cannon" Bobby Hebert called a “total team win.”
Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater threw two touchdown passes while running back Alvin Kamara tallied more than 160 yards from scrimmage and two scores.
New Orleans also got a special teams and defensive touchdown in the game.
“It could be the Miami Dolphins or whatever,” Hebert said. “If you can get a defensive touchdown, a special teams touchdown, shame on you if you don’t win that game.”
Hebert said the team effort was important as quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was looking to establish himself and that Saints will need that again Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys.
While New Orleans was sharp in the big win 33-27 win Sunday, Hebert said their still some things they can improve.
Though conditions were wet as it was raining throughout much of Sunday’s matchup, Hebert said he would like to see more accurate throws from Bridgewater.
“When you have a receiver open, you gotta hit him,” he said. “He was high on like three balls… He’ll have to be more accurate to beat a team like Dallas.”
Hebert said he would also like to see New Orleans limit big plays in the passing game.
“They gave up 8.1 yards averaged gained per pass play and that’s what they gave up last year 8.1 which was 29th in the league,” He said. “And coming into the game they were 27th, giving up 8.6 So they gotta get better.”
He pointed to Cowboys quarterback Dan Prescott and his top target Amari Cooper as reasons the Saints needed limit the big passing plays. He said said it will be key to not give up 20-plus yards runs to Ezekiel Elliott.
