Malcolm Jenkins appeared on CNN Tonight with Don Lemon Tuesday night and said he expects anthem protests to continue this season.

The New Orleans Saints safety made the comments when asked about President Donald Trump's tweet where he said "the game is over" when a player kneels during the anthem. Jenkins told Lemon the president is "choosing" to ignore the reason for the protests and expected to see them continue this season.

"I think anybody who's looking to use sports, especially this year, as an outlet to kind of get away from what's happening right now in our country is probably gonna be sadly mistaken especially as we move towards the fall," Jenkins said on CNN adding that he was excited to see other sports leagues like NASCAR, the NBA and MLB adding to the social commentary.

NASCAR recently banned the confederate flag from its races and driver Bubba Wallace drove a car with Black Lives Matter painted prominently on the vehicle. Several MLB players knelt during the anthem of a recent game and the NBA will have Black Lives Matter written on courts and are allowing players to have custom messages on their uniforms promoting social justice causes.
