For the second week in a row, special teams and defense played a big factor in a New Orleans Saints win.
The Saints' defense held on Dallas' final drive, Vonn Bell got his hands on a couple fumbles and Will Lutz connected on a career-high four field goals to help the Saints earn a tough 12-10 victory against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday night in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Lutz connected on field goals of 40, 42, 19 and 26 yards Sunday night and the Saints defense forced two turnovers as they limited the Cowboy’s offense to just two scores.
Bell, who returned a fumble for a touchdown last weekend in Seattle, corralled a loose ball in the second quarter after linebacker A.J. Klein knocked it out of the hands of Cowboys tight end Jason Witten.
Later in the quarter, he stripped and recovered a ball out of the arms of Dallas running back Ezekiel Elliott.
Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater made his second start this season and Drew Brees continued to recover from a thumb injury.
Bridgewater finished 23-of-30 for 193 yards and one interception. Bridgewater and running back Alvin Kamara helped the Saints offense dominate time of possession. Kamara finished with 89 total yards from scrimmage.
