New Orleans Saints defensive end Marcus Davenport is out for the remainder of the season with a foot injury, according to a report from the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

#Saints DE Marcus Davenport suffered a significant foot injury in Sunday’s loss to the #49ers, sources tell me and @RapSheet. He’s expected to undergo season-ending surgery. A big loss for that defense.

The Saints used a first-round draft pick in 2018 to select Davenport out of UTSA.  The 6-foot-6, 256-pound player was in the midst of a strong season as he'd racked up six sacks, three forced fumbles and five tackles for a loss.

Losing Davenport means the Saints will have to rely on Trey Hendrickson who's rotated at defensive end. Hendrickson has four sacks on the season.
