Saints quarterback Drew Brees should see the field Saturday afternoon when New Orleans faces the Jets in both teams’ third preseason contest.
Saints coach Sean Payton told reporters following Wednesday’s training camp practice that the NFL’s all-time leading passer will play.
“In a game like this, we’ll plan on playing him,” Payton said. “How much? we’ll see.
Brees said he was excited about potentially playing as he like taking as many reps as possible. He added that he understands why he might not see as much preseason action as he would like.
“At the end of the day, the most important thing is being as healthy and prepared as you can be for Week 1,” Brees said.
Saturday’s matchup against the Jets will be Brees first preseason game action as he was held out of the opener against the Minnesota Vikings and last week’s exhibition win against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday on WWL radio and FOX 8.
