Earlier this week, Drew Brees said he’d like to have had more than one drive in his preseason debut.

But one drive was Saints top quarterback got and he certainly made the most of it as he led New Orleans to a quick touchdown in its 28-13 preseason win against the New York Jets.

Brees was sharp in a game that saw a combined 31 penalties, going 4-of-6 in his lone series and led the Saints on a 8-play, 72-yard drive that ended with with the NFL’s all-time leading passer connecting with Michael Thomas for a 19-yard touchdown.

Thomas had both of his catches on the series and Saints Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara tallied 33 yards on four touches.

The Saints got the ball back quickly on the Jets first offensive drive when Marshon Lattimore stripped the ball out of the hands of Jets running back Ty Montgomery.

Teddy Bridgewater checked in following the opening touchdown drive and played the rest of the first half. He completed 15 of 26 passes for 143 yards.

The Saints held a 13-7 lead at the half and Taysom Hill started the third quarter. Hill finished the game with 127 yards passing.

Saints rookie kick returner Deonte Harris saw some action at receiver but impressed in the fourth quarter when he bolted for a 78-yard touchdown on a punt return.
