The New Orleans Saints will face either the Cowboys, Eagles or Seahawks in the Divisional Round on January 13th.  The Voice of the Saints Zach Strief thinks it’s going to be the Seahawks.

“My instinct is Seattle.  Seattle is both the team we’re going to see and the team we would like most to see,” Strief explained.  The Seahawks face the Cowboys this weekend in the Wild Card round.

Strief points out this is not the Seahawks of old, and the Legion of Boom that once dominated offenses is a distant memory. “They’ve got some big holes on that team.  Pete Carroll has done a great job coaching them and getting into the playoffs, but that roster is not abundantly talented.”

It’s hard to imagine feeling good about a matchup with the Seahawks considering how good quarterback Russell Wilson has been.

“It is hard to say that, bring in the best remaining quarterback in the NFC outside of Drew Brees,” Strief acknowledged.  However, the Seattle defense has some areas Strief feels like the Saints could exploit especially in the secondary.

“That’s the kind of team I want to see. I want to see a young secondary that has struggled in the Superdome.  That front seven is not what it once was.  That’s the group we can best exploit,” Strief said.

Why not the Eagles, who barely got in the post-season with a 9-7 record and a back-up quarterback?  After all, the Saints throttled the Eagles in their regular season match up 48-7.
