Louisiana’s Assistant State Health Officer Dr. Joe Kanter joined Newell Friday afternoon for his recurring weekly segment about how the state government is adapting to new challenges posed by the coronavirus crisis. Officials today reported the death toll from COVID-19 increased by 57 in the state. There are now 1,213 coronavirus deaths in Louisiana against a statewide total of 23,118 cases. The number of patients in hospitals went down from 1,914 yesterday to 1,868 today, and the number of those on ventilators went from 396 yesterday to 363 today.
