Nike is at it again. Nike, the official shoe of “WOKEtopia,” released a new sneaker commemorating Independence Day. Safe, marketing idea, right? Well, not so fast. Independence Day may be a problem, depending on which symbol you use. Then, again, in WOKEtopia you may never know what sensitivities you have enflamed.
So goes this story. Some silly person designed a sneaker for Independence Day and placed the Betsy Ross flag on its heel. They packed them up and shipped them out to their retailers. Big mistake. They left out the most important review in this production chain. That is a review by the WOKEtopica sensitivity review board.
Chairman of the board, Colin Kaepernick, former NFL quarterback unable to get a job turned activist, reviewed the Betsy Ross flag themed sneaker. He determined that the Betsy Ross flag symbol was an offensive symbol, because of its connection to an era of slavery.
The WOKEtopia sensitivity review has spoken and Nike, in keeping with their motto “just do it” - just did. They pulled the sneakers from the shelves of retailers everywhere and ordered them to return these outlawed tennis shoes to Nike so they can lay them to rest in that big WOKEtopia cemetery in the sky.
As for me, I will celebrate Independence Day keeping in mind that it is the celebration of a new nation - certainly not a perfect one, however, the best one in the world. So I will keep it simple from here on and add one more thing to do on July 4th. I intend to “just do it” - throw away everything I own with a Nike logo on it.
Full transparency - it may take more than a day!
So, this is what WOKE feels like!
