Newell: We should always remember Capt. Liberto's last call

On Friday, September 20, 2019, we lost another hero. A gentle giant. A son, a husband, a father of seven. A commander, a friend. A former Marine. A man who gave a damn.

On my show we talk about the attempts of those who try to villainize law enforcement. It's tragic. Does this help put it in context? Every time this happens, does it help put in in context? I ask you. And how fast do we forget about all the lives lost, innocently? There was no beef that Capt. Liberto had with his community. There was no conflict between them. All he did was live a stellar life, raise a beautiful family and serve this country. There was no conflict. All he did was what he took an oath to do - to enforce the laws of St Tammany, of Mandeville, of Louisiana, of the United States of America. Are all police officers perfect? No. But on this day, at this time, there was no conflict. He just walked across the thin blue line, and he did not come back to us.So how long will it be before we forget Friday? For me? Never.---Hear the entirety of Newell's tribute in the audio player below
