Many people thought the New Orleans Saints would look to address the tight end position in this year's draft.  It took until the final round, but they did.

The Saints selected Alize' Mack from Notre Dame with pick No. 231 in the seventh round, a big 6'4" 250 pound prospect.

WWL's teams of draft experts seemed to like the selection.

"He is a big tall drink of water.  He's my tenth-ranked tight end," said Mike Detillier.

"He looks the part.  He'd be the first one off the bus," added Bobby Hebert.  "Third, fourth round guy and you get him in the seventh round.  That's value."

While his physical attributes are impressive, Detillier did express come reservations about his actual production.

"My big thing with Mack is, for all his physical talent. . .he's never been super productive.  Very inconsistent."

Mack ran a 4.70 40-yard dash at the combine, and caught 36 passes for 360 yards and three touchdowns in his senior season with the Irish.  He will compete for a job behind Jared Cook and Josh Hill, two players seemingly entrenched at the position on the team's roster.
