NFL Network's Mike Garafolo was the first to report the news after the game. Rankins suffered a lower leg injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game and was carted off the field. He is still waiting on an MRI to confirm the initial diagnosis.
If Rankins did tear his Achilles' tendon, he would miss the rest of the Saints' playoff run and would be projected to return sometime over the summer before the team begins the 2019 season. Rankins had a career-high eight sacks this season.
