Drew Brees was absent from the Saints organized team activity practice session on Tuesday.  Head coach Sean Payton did not say why his starting quarterback wasn’t there.

“There hasn’t been someone not here that I’m not aware of, so I’ll just leave it at that,” Payton said.

OTAs are voluntary and Brees missing a few is not a huge surprise or concern as he heads into his 18th season in the NFL. Reports are that he was dealing with a trial San Diego to decide a lawsuit that was filed last year which involves a jeweler that is said to have defrauded him.

In Brees’ absence Teddy Bridgewater got a chance to take the first team offense out for a spin and had a solid day.  He threw a number of good looking balls in the teams’ indoor facility and really shined in the Saints red zone drills which close out the practice.

“Bridgewater was more accurate with the football than Taysom Hill, but that’s been the same song and dance,” said the Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert.  “I know Teddy had a least 3 touchdown passes; a really good one across the middle.”

Hebert also like what he saw from 34 year old wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. “He looks as fast as everyone else out there, he ran a jet sweep for a score on the very first play.”

The Saints are scheduled to have 2 more OTA practices before mandatory minicamp starts next week.
