WR Emmanuel Sanders seeing a hungry and handsy Saints secondary

NFL, Saints

Emmanuel Sanders spent the latter half of last season in San Francisco, helping the 49ers get to the championship game, but choose to join the Saints in free agency because he believes in a Black & Gold Super Bowl. So far in camp, he’s been seeing a secondary that is hungry and ready to hunt for that Lombardi.

“Every time I catch the ball, the entire defense swarms to the ball and they're trying to bat the ball out,” explained Sanders. “Sometimes I get punched in the stomach because they're trying to poke the ball out, and its five seconds, ten seconds after the play, they're going after the ball. I know one thing, those guys, they bring the energy and they fly around. I'm looking forward to seeing if we could put it all together, but I got a feeling we're going to be a pretty good team this year."

A guy who has wowed Sanders, is cornerback Janoris Jenkins who was added to the Saints roster late last year.  Now the Jackrabbit gets a full season alongside Marshon Lattimore, which has many believing they could be the best CB tandem in the NFL.

“I ran a comeback in the first couple days of training camp. I thought I was going to be wide open and this guy stopped on a dime,” Sanders said about Jenkins. “His feet are really good, he stopped on a dime and broke up the pass and I was really surprised. I've never seen a guy cover that route, how I ran it.”

High praise from Sanders who is entering his year 12 in the league. The 33-year old has been to 3 Super Bowl in his career is hoping a 2nd championship ring is coming with New Orleans.
