More money savings for the salary cap strapped Saints. Ian Rappoprot of the NFL Network reports that linebacker Kiko Alonso has agreed to a restructured contract:

The #Saints and LB Kiko Alonso have agreed to terms on a restricted deal and he’ll stay in New Orleans, source said. He’ll take less than the $7.8M he was slated to make, helping the team with some more space.

The 29-year-old was a 2nd round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2013, and was traded to the Saints from the Dolphins at the start of the 2019 season for Vince Biegel. Alonso dealt with a thigh injury at the end of the regualr season then suffered a torn ACL in the Wild Card playoff loss to the Minnestoa Vikings. He was entering the final year of a contract set to pay him $7.8 million.

Cornerback Patrick Robinson also reworked his contact. The 32-year-old did not see the field much a year ago after missing most of the 2018 season due to a broken ankle. Robinson was entering the 3rd year of a 4-year deal that was set to pay him $4.9 million this coming season.
