Allen has been a head coach before. He was with the Oakland Raiders from 2012-14 where he went 4-12 in each of his first two seasons, then 0-4 in the third year before being fired. This has been Allen's 3rd season as defensive coordinator in New Orleans.  His unit ranks second in the league against the run (80 yards per game) and 29th against the pass (269 YPG). Allen's defense has have gotten after the QB at a high rate as the Saints are tied for fifth in the league in sacks with 49 and have 12 interceptions and 12 fumbles recovered.
