The Saints traded for Teddy Bridgewater prior to the 2018 season to get a good look at the quarterback before he entered free agency. He quickly won over the locker room and validated to the coaching staff he could be the QB of the future for the Black & Gold. But, there was a looming concern he could choose to sign elsewhere if a starting opportunity presented itself. Apparently though that wasn't the case for the Miami native, who reportedly had a larger offer from the Dolphins, but has opted to return to New Orleans another season to be Drew Brees' back-up.
Teddy Bridgewater expected to re-sign with the New Orleans Saints despite a bigger deal on the table from Miami. I’m told Bridgewater values the locker room culture and prospect of one day becoming the Saints starting QB per source informed. #Saints

Bridgewater got to start the regular season finale against the Panthers and was 14 of 22 passing for 118 yards, with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. He did not have the full offense at his disposal because of injuries and the team was resting players since the #1 seed in the NFC was locked up. Bridgewater will now get to go through a full training camp in New Orleans. Details of a new deal are still not known.
