Saints aim to keep same rhythm & tempo going into week 4 against Dallas

Winning in Seattle with Drew Brees wasn’t going to be easy, so the odds really seemed stacked against the Saints Sunday without their future Hall-of-Fame quarterback.  But, the Black & Gold found a way. The Fleur-Di-Lis D got the fire going by forcing  3-and-out on the Seahawks opening possession, then undrafted rookie Deonte Harris set things ablaze taking the punt 53 yards to house giving the team the lead and shot of confidence. The defense made that a double-shot after corner Eli Apple stripped the ball away from RB Chris Carson and safety Vonn Bell scooped it up and ran for a 33 yd TD.

“Deonte got us going early. Got the energy going, the momentum on our side early. Defense played great.  All those things are factors,” explained left tackle Terron Armstead. “We just have to find a way to win THAT game, so that’s how we had to win that game yesterday. This upcoming week we just have to find a way to win this game. It can go a lot of different ways. But, I think that’s the great thing about our team; that we have a lot of different ways we can win.

Earning that positive momentum can hopefully carry over to another tough showdown this week.  The 3-0 Cowboys come to New Orleans and I’m sure the Saints would love to spoil their streak after the Black & Golds’ run of 10 consecutive wins was snapped in Dallas a year ago.

“Keep that rhythm, that tempo up,” said Armstead.  “Like I said, that game was just how we had to win that game.  This game, our rhythm and tempo are going to be a part of it for sure, but we just need to find what we need to do to win that game.”

3-0 is 3-0, but if you look at who Dallas has played they haven’t been tested.  They have beaten the Giants, Redskins and Dolphins. Combined those teams’ records are 1-7.

Just prepare, stick with our routine, Armstead said about getting ready for the final game of the first quarter of the season. “Focus in on Dallas, they have a great team. A complete team. So it’s going to be a tough one. Should be a fun Sunday night game. But, we’ll have our plan tighter and we’ll be ready for them.”
