Saints playoff seeding scenarios following Packers win on MNF

After Sunday’s win in Tennessee, the Saints moved up to the 2 seed in the NFC, tied with San Francisco at 12-3.  The 49ers hold the tiebreaker over New Orleans though. But, the Packers still had to play on Monday Night Football and wrapped up an NFC North title by beating the Vikings 23-10 in Minnesota.  The Pack are also 12-3, and own a better conference record than the Saints so take back the #2 spot heading in the final week of the regular season.

Getting one of the two top spots is still possible for the Black & Gold. They need:

1. Green Bay loss/tie at Detroit

2. San Francisco loss/tie at Seattle

If the Saints win at Carolina and one of the two above happens, New Orleans will be the 2 seed. A win and both 1 and 2 happening would make the Saints the one seed.

A loss to the Panthers doesn’t end a chance for a first round bye. The Saints would then need Seattle and Green Bay to both win, which would end up giving New Orleans the 2 seed.

Big night for the Packers in terms of earning a first round bye. Tough night for the Seahawks and Saints. Four teams remain in the mix. https://t.co/XcKrybkE41 pic.twitter.com/gsw11lzLAX

If the Saints end up staying the #3 seed in the NFC, they will host the 6 seed on Wild Card weekend.  That happens to be good ole Minnestoa Vikings.
