Leave it to the San Antonio Spurs to play the role of party poopers. They took down the Pelicans 121-117 in the Smoothie King Center on the night of Zion Willamson's first NBA game. The top overall pick in the draft finished with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. We knew Zion would be on a minutes restriction playing for the first time since having knee surgery in October. He logged 18 minutes and really came alive on the 4th quarter, scoring 17 while making 4 straight 3 pointers.

The rest of the Pels flock couldn't drain the deep ball. As a team New Orleans went 14 of 36 from beyond the arc and shot 46% from the floor on the night. The Pelicans fall to 17-28 on the season and will next host the Denver Nuggets Friday night.
