Still no statement on the “NOLA no-call”, but NFL has fined Rams player

It’s been 5 days and the head of the NFL, Commissioner Roger Goodell has still not said a peep about the officials missed call in the NFC championship on Saints wide receiver Tommylee Lewis. However, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports that the league has fined LA Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman for helmet-to-helmet contact.

NFL made an unofficial statement on the hit that Rams' CB Nickell Robey-Coleman delivered on Saints' WR Tommylee Lewis.NFL fined Robey-Coleman the amount of $26,739 for the helmet-to-helmet that was not flagged during the NFC Championship Game, per source.

Schefter also reports that head coach Sean Payton has spoken to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, NFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent, competition committee chairman Rich McKay and that it was explained to Payton that it’s a call that officials should make. Saints’ owner Gayle Benson is also said to have spoken with Goodell.
