Consistency has come with continuity for the Saints defense. 2011 1st round draft pick Cameron Jordan has seniority on this squad. He has gone been through the lows and is more than ready to take a trip to Miami in February. Jordan’s five sacks leads the team’s hunt, which has brought down a total of 18 QBs on the season.

“A lot of it is returning players coming back,” the All-Pro defensive end said. “It’s the familiarity of our defense. It’s the trust that we have in one another.”
That trust has paid off. The Saints D hasn’t given up more than 257 yards against their last 3 opponents and are allowing 13 points a game in that span. The d-line, linebacking corps and secondary are all complimenting one another, which has created chaos for opposing offenses.
“We just approach it week by week,” explained linebacker Demario Davis. “Our coaches do a good job of putting in a good game plan. We know, as players, if we can execute the game plan that they put in for us; that we’re going to be alright. And, the past few weeks we’ve been doing a good job of executing.”

October 14, 2019 This week they get a Bears offense that’s looked like it’s still hibernating. Chicago is scoring just 17 points per game and converting 35% on 3rd down. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky will likely be back under center. He had been out since dislocating his non-throwing shoulder in week 4, but practiced fully all week and is listed as questionable. Big things were expected entering year 3 for Trubisky, but he has not looked like the #2 overall pick three years ago. The Bears passed on Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, hoping Trusbisky would become their franchise signal caller. In 4 games this season he’s completed 65% of his passes for 588 yards, 3 TDs, 2INTs.
Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore will look to add to that interception total. He got the taste for turnovers last week after he snagging his first INT of the season.
“I can be better,” Lattimore slyly smiled. “I always want to be better than what I was the week before so I’m going to try and come out and top that performance. Hopefully I get two picks or something...hopefully.”
Lattimore has provided blanket coverage over the last few opponent’s best wide receiver. His shadow loomed large over the likes of Amari Cooper, Mike Evans and DJ Chark.

October 14, 2019 He’ll aim to add Allen Robinson to the list this Sunday. The Bears top target leads the team with 31 catches for 377 yards and 2 scores. Robinson has averaged 6 receptions per game, so we’ll see how his numbers fare after getting stranded on Lattimore island this Sunday.
