Tommy: Are Louisiana schools getting better?

I think it was Mark Twain, or possibly Nash Roberts, who said “Everybody talks about the weather but nobody does anything about it.”  Depending on your views about man made climate change that statement could be true or false.  However when it comes to public education everybody talks about it but few, if any, have any ideas how to make it better.

Often, the reactions from Louisianians to the problems in our state remind me of that guy or gal at the meeting.  You know the type.  “That’ll never work.” “That’s a terrible idea.”  “Why would you think that’s a solution?” They have no ideas or solutions, but they’re great at shooting down the ideas of others.
